Cook’s Cottage, built in Yorkshire in 1755, was the home of Captain James Cook’s parents. It was transported to Fitzroy Gardens in Melbourne in 1934. To carry the house across the oceans, the walls were taken apart brick by brick and rebuilt in Melbourne. Even the original ivy that adorned the house was packed and replanted.
